About Us
Michigan Addiction Recovery Alliance (MARA) connects individuals and families to vital recovery resources across Michigan, offering support, education, and a network of services. Our mission is to empower those affected by addiction through collaboration, compassion, and community-driven initiatives

Our Mission
A Community Driven Approach
Michigan Addiction Recovery Alliance (MARA) exists to bridge the gap between those in need of recovery resources and the wealth of services available across Michigan. Recognizing the challenges individuals face in navigating the recovery process, MARA is dedicated to providing clear, accessible, and comprehensive information about addiction recovery options, tailored to the unique needs of each individual. By fostering a collaborative network of service providers, including treatment centers, support groups, and community-based initiatives, MARA ensures that individuals and families can easily connect with the resources they need to begin and sustain their journey toward recovery. At its core, MARA seeks to empower individuals, reduce stigma, and build a foundation of hope and resilience across the state.
MARA's mission is grounded in the belief that lasting recovery is achieved through the strength of community and the power of shared experiences. The organization actively engages with individuals in recovery, faith-based groups, healthcare providers, and policymakers to create an inclusive and supportive environment for those affected by addiction. By hosting educational events, developing innovative tools, and advocating for policies that promote equitable access to recovery resources, MARA strives to address the root causes of addiction while supporting sustainable recovery outcomes. Through its commitment to collaboration and compassion, MARA aims to transform lives, strengthen families, and enhance the well-being of communities across Michigan.
Our Start
How we began
Michigan Addiction Recovery Alliance (MARA) was founded by Greg Emelander, a passionate advocate for addiction recovery, who knows firsthand the struggles of overcoming substance abuse. After facing his own battles with addiction, Greg founded MARA to bridge the gap in available resources and support for those on the recovery journey. Based in Greenville, Michigan, MARA offers a range of services, including a recovery-focused podcast, to help individuals and families access the tools they need. With a mission to provide education, empowerment, and support, MARA works tirelessly to raise awareness about recovery and to address the opioid crisis in Montcalm County. Supported by a dedicated team, including Community Connection Coordinator Brittani, MARA is committed to making a lasting impact on the lives of individuals and their families through compassion, knowledge, and community.
